Q: How will surfers be able to find photos of themselves?
Photographers will identify themselves as a wpsurf registered photographer at all times when taking photos that they later use on the wpsurf site. Without this identification, the vital link between anonymous surfers and the wpsurf site is not made. Photographers will make this link using custom material such as a flag and clothing.

Q: How do I purchase and download image(s)?
A:
PURCHASE (AND DOWNLOAD) IMAGES
Once images have been found and added to My Cart, the images can be purchased and downloaded.
As WPSurf provides surf photos worldwide, we do not offer prints. What you have purchased is the digital version.
Q: I bought an image - will I receive a print in the post?
A: As WPSurf provides surf photos worldwide, we do not offer prints. The cost to post these around the world would make them too expensive when compared with printing locally for purchasers.
What you have purchased is the digital version.
a) If you log on to WPSurf.com and go to your 'My Orders' in the menu down the left hand side -
b) you will see the order you placed.
c) Select "click here" from ...To view the details of this order click here...
d) Click on the images that you purchased to download them.
We also offer a drop down menu, ordered by country, of suggested digital photo printers. Most of these will take a digital image over the internet and post you out what you require.
You can also print them yourself if you have a good quality printer and photo grade paper.
Q: Will the image I buy and download still have the wpsurf watermark appearing over the top of it?
A: No. All images will have copyright information displayed below them consisting of the photographers "short name" and WPSurf.com. This will also be present on the full size image when purchased and downloaded, but there will be no watermarking across the full size image.
Clicking on an actual image thumbnail allows you to see a small "watermarked" version of the image with additional image information.

Q: Can I give an image I have bought to other people such as family members or use them in my portfolio?
A: The normal licence provided by wpsurf is for personal use only. This allows you to print and display your images privately but no licence is granted to transfer the limited rights to any other party. This does allow for you to privately show your images to friends and family. It clearly does not allow anyone to use them for commercial purposes unless they negotiate a different licence in advance.
Q: Can I see the image prices in a different currency?
A: Yes.
Change Currency
The default currency of the site is £ Pounds Sterling and the purchase price for all images is always given in £ Pounds Sterling but may be displayed (approximately) in five other currencies.

The exact cost (in currencies other than £ Sterling) will not be given until the Checkout option is selected and payment is actually being prepared using Paypal, as they set their own currency exchange rates.
Q: I searched for a break but don't see it when I get my search results back!
A: The breaks are hidden by default when a search is performed - because most of the time a user will want to see the images. If you want to see the breaks found you need to expand the section

Q: Why have some images disappeared from 'My Images'?
Unsold images are only retained on wpsurf for a certain amount of time.
Wpsurf will automatically delete images from the system at its own discretion, especially after having retained them for a period unsold. This period, as with all other reasons for deletion, remains a decision for wpsurf and can vary geographically, depending on sales in that area.
As surfers have a limited time to purchase their photos, this encourages new and fresh content to be always available on wpsurf.

From My Breaks or Break Search Results, a photographer can click on the
Add Image option to begin the image upload process from the following screen:
There are certain limits to any file upload.
If these limits are not conformed to then the entire upload process may fail:
this could be the total for a .zip compressed file containing multiple .jpg image files OR
the total of the five individual .jpg image files if uploaded individually.

If you have files or upload speeds that will cause these limits to be exceeded, you should consider breaking down your uploads into smaller batches.
The following pieces of information must be filled in for all images uploaded:
Depending on which break (and map) that the photos were taken, the price will be automatically assigned for each of these price bands. For particularly good photographs, the photographer may set their own price by choosing the "Platinum" price band and manually entering a price. There is a minimum price for each break (and map) if a photo is classified as platinum.
Each Price Band also has a minimum file size. All photos uploaded for a price band must conform to the minimum file size. If they do not, the upload process will attempt to automatically allocate them to a lower price band. If a photo does not meet any of the price band minimum file sizes, then it will fail to upload.
The are other optional pieces of information which a photographer may fill in if known for all images uploaded:
All image files uploaded must be in .jpg format.
1. Batch Upload -
A photographer may first prepare a batch of .jpg files that belong to the same break, date, price band and surfer type.

The resulting .zip file may then be located using the "Browse" button to locate the file on your computer:

OR

When the image upload begins, the photographer should see the following message on the Main wpsurf screen below the Submit button:

Q: How will I get paid?
A:
Getting Paid
A photographer will be paid to their Paypal account monthly only if their account balance has reached the threshold value (currently £100.00).
Payments will be processed in the first week of each calendar month.
It is up to each photographer to ensure the email address registered with wpsurf has been setup with Paypal in order to receive funds.
Q: Can I still sell images on wpsurf if I have either sold them to others or have them for sale on another site?
A: Yes. Wpsurf do NOT require that you supply your images on a non exclusive basis and so do NOT prevent you from selling your images elsewhere. It is the photographers responsibility to ensure that you do not infringe on any rights you may have negotiated with others. For example - if you have sold a photo to a surf magazine (on a non exclusive basis or a time limited basis) you are free to place that same photo for sale on wpsurf after any exclusive period has expired. This may enable the surfer to obtain a high quality download of the photo for their own use.
Q: If I sell images on wpsurf, does that mean that I cannot sell them again?
A: No. As the license you give when selling on wpsurf is a limited licence for personal use, this should not prevent you from selling the same image to others for personal or commercial use.
Q: How do I make or break an association with an affiliate?
A:
Affiliate
A photographer may choose to associate with one local wpsurf affiliate either during registration or at any later date. This association can be made or broken at any time by either of the two parties.
A photographer must have an affiliate's agreement before associating.
Affiliates will be local surf shops or board manufacturers already established in the local surfing industry. These associations or links may bring benefits to both parties: Affiliates will be paid commission (5%) on all sales of a associated photographer's work, taken from the wpsurf commission, not in addition to it. A photographer develops local associations and their name and images will appear on the affiliates local surf photos website which will be provided by wpsurf. A photographer's name and images will always appear on the wpsurf.com site and they are under no obligation to associate with any affiliate.
To associate with an affiliate:
) to bring back a list of all affiliates on the system with the letters entered in their name.To break your association with an affiliate:
You are no longer associated to that Affiliate.
Q: Why have some images disappeared from 'My Portfolio'?
Unsold images are only retained on wpsurf for a certain amount of time.
Wpsurf will automatically delete images from the system at its own discretion, especially after having retained them for a period unsold. This period, as with all other reasons for deletion, remains a decision for wpsurf and can vary geographically, depending on sales in that area.
As surfers have a limited time to purchase their photos, this encourages new and fresh content to be always available on wpsurf.
If a photographer finds that some of their photos are not selling they might want to:
Photographer Guidelines.Photographers will identify themselves as a wpsurf registered photographer at all times when taking photos that they later use on the wpsurf site. Without this identification, the vital link between anonymous surfers and the wpsurf site is not made. Photographers will make this link using custom material such as a flag and clothing.
Bearing in mind that the photographer does not need to have had any direct contact with the surfer...
Basic Search (where and when)) to bring back any photos taken. The surfer can then look through them to find any photos of themselves or their friends. The surfer does not need to have had any direct contact with the photographer. Simply searching for the break you were surfing at on a specific date will bring back any photos taken. You can then look through them to find any photos of yourself or your friends.
The most common (and simplest) search will usually be just searching by "where and when".

If you enter a break name (or part of a break name), enter the date you are interested in and click on "Search", you will get back:
The search will only find breaks and images at the map region you are looking at (and anywhere below that region).
